It's time again for bead catching and moon-pie eating excitement in Pensacola with Pensacola Mardi Gras 2011! Here are some of the great parades and events that you won't want to miss:
Mardi Gras Kid and Kritter Krawl. Feb. 26. This walking parade on Pensacola Beach is open to children and pets of any kind.
Pensacola Downtown Lighted Parade. March 4. At 8 p.m., the Krewe of Lafitte, Pensacola's hometown pirates, hosts their annual illuminated Mardi Gras parade in historic downtown Pensacola. Visitors can watch pirate ships parade down Palafox Street and start the weekend with lots of treats.
Pensacola Downtown Grand Parade. March 5. Pensacola's biggest and best-attended parade is held in downtown Pensacola at 2 p.m. Most of the area's krewes participate, giving visitors two hours of free entertainment. Afterward, the crowd follows the costumed characters to Seville Quarter for even more fun.
Pensacola Beach Mardi Gras Parade. March 6. At 2 p.m. on Pensacola Beach is the Krewe of Wrecks parade. The Gulf of Mexico and sugar-white sands are the backdrop for the final parade of the weekend.
